Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Twynham Primary School — a place where every child is known, valued and inspired to flourish. We are proud of our caring, ambitious community and of the shared belief that education is about far more than academic success alone. At TPS, we work together to nurture confident learners, thoughtful citizens and kind human beings who are prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the wider world.

Central to our vision is a deep commitment to nurturing today’s readers. We recognise that literacy is the gateway to learning, creativity and independence, and is fundamental to equity and social justice. By fostering a genuine love for reading and providing tailored support, we empower children to become confident, capable readers who can access knowledge, express themselves clearly and develop empathy and understanding for others. We believe that strong literacy opens doors — academically, socially and emotionally — and remains a lifelong gift.

Alongside this, we are dedicated to inspiring tomorrow’s leaders. Leadership at TPS is not about titles or positions; it is about responsibility, integrity and having the confidence to make positive choices. We encourage children to take ownership of their learning, to show humility and respect, and to recognise that they can make a difference — within school, in their community and beyond. Through purposeful opportunities for leadership, collaboration and reflection, our pupils develop the skills and values they will need to thrive in an ever‑changing world.

Everything we do is guided by our STAR values, which shine brightly across our school and shape the character of our community.

Service sits at the heart of our ethos. We instil in our pupils a strong sense of responsibility to others, encouraging acts of kindness, empathy and contribution so that giving back becomes a natural part of who they are.

Aspiration drives our high expectations. We inspire children to dream big, work hard and persevere, supporting them to achieve their full potential while celebrating effort as much as outcome.

Respect underpins our relationships. We nurture a culture where difference is celebrated, voices are listened to and every individual is treated with dignity and care.

Teamwork defines how we work and learn together. As Team TPS, pupils, staff and families collaborate in partnership, valuing each other’s strengths and working towards shared goals.

At Twynham Primary School, children grow not only in knowledge but in confidence, compassion and character. We are immensely proud of our school and warmly invite you to become part of our journey, as together we prepare our children for a future filled with purpose, contribution and fulfilment.
